How to create Facebook posts in different languages

Last Updated: 10/25/2017By

I just re-activated my personal Facebook account after a long period of inactivity and, after reading the expected avalanche of news/messages/posts/etc, I wanted to publish my own posts.

Some of the things I want to share are sometimes just jokes and funny images, but they are in a specific language, for example in Spanish. A not-Spanish-speaking friend would probably not understand some of them so I want to share them only with people who have their Facebook interface language in Spanish (or German, French, etc).

I thought I had already changed the basic setting, it does not matter, let’s change it again.

By default Facebook has the Multilingual posts setting disabled. Let’s enable that again.
In the top menu bar (if you are on a computer browser) press the last symbol on the right (a triangle heading down) and select Settings.

Then select Language in the left menu

In the new page, right at the bottom, you can change the setting of Multilingual Posts

enable the setting until it loos like below then press Save Changes

This change will now show you a new option (now Default: English)

where you can select the language of this specific post.
